The guests assembled on the lawn and marched to the dining room at 4:00 PM where an excellent dinner had been prepared by Mrs. Wood, caterer. The dining room was decorated in gold and white.
At half past 5:00 a pleasing program was carried out as follows: singing by Lulu and Roland McCreery, a talk on "Fifty Years of Married Life" by Reverend Charles M. Duryea, a song by Leona Kilmer, recitations by Mrs. John Mulliken, Jr. and Norman Chambers, a song by Reverend and Mrs. Watrous, and the benediction by Reverend Sheehan.
The guests remained until late in the evening. They left many handsome presents to gladden the hearts of Mr. and Mrs. Mulliken who had had so many happy years of married life. In the cake was ring the finder of which was to entertain the company next year. The ring fell to Mrs. Mulliken.
Those present from afar were: Mrs. William Morgan, Mrs. Elsie Putnam, Miss Josephine Tripp, Charles Putnam, all of Hillsdale, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Whelpley, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chambers and son, Norman, of Hesperia, Michigan; Mrs. Eveline Whelpley of Grand Ledge, Michigan, Mrs. Wilbur Zimmerman of Mobile, Alabama and Reverend Sarah Lane of Parmalee, Michigan.
