About Unknown (Not Jehan-Claude Landry)
The acknowledge expert of Acadian history Prof White at University of N. B. in Moncton and his colleague have determined that the parents of René "le Jeune" Landry are NOT known.
The assumption that Rene was the son is based on the fact that Marie Sallé lived in close proximity to both Rene le Jeune & Rene L'Aine Landry. They are not listed as being her sons in any census. Her second husband is listed in the censuses as Jehan Claude and someone jumped to the conclusion that his last name was not recorded. Since the census we have for that era and that time frame ALWAYS listed the full names of the adults, we can only assume that his last name was Claude.
The assumption that his name was Landry is just that, an assumption. It is not based on documentation.
In the interest of historical accuracy, we've remove the link to these incorrect parents. The parents of Rene and his sister Antoinette are unknown, based on the current research into this family.
See Jehan Claude's profile for more information.
