14 February 1571-72: Extract Charter under the Great Seal, granting to Torquil McLeod, son and heir apparent of Roderick McLeod of Lewis, the lands and baronies of Assynt and Cogarch, in the earldom of Ross and sheriffdom of Inverness, the lands, isle and barony of Lewis with castle etc, the lands and isle of Waterness, in said sheriffdom; on said Rodorick's resignation. Reserving said Rodorick's liferent. To be held by said Torquil and the heirs male of his body, whom failing, Gillecallum Garwie McLeod of Raisay and the heirs male of his body, whom failing, said Torquil's heirs male whomsoever bearing the arms and surname of McLeod, and their assignees, united into the free barony of Lewis as before. 22 February 1600: Charter by Torquil Makcloid of Lewis to Donald McAngus of Glengarrie and Katherine McIntosche his spouse, in conjunct fee and to the heirs of their bodies whom failing to the heirs and assignees of the said Donald whomsoever, of the town and lands of Ullobill in the barony of Cogeache and shire of Inverness. To be held by the said Donald and his foresaids in feu heritage and blench farm for payment to the King and his successors of a penny Scots yearly in name of blench farm if asked only. May 1604: Charter by Roderick McKenzie of Coullealoid with consent of Kenneth McKenzie of Kintail, his superior, in implement of the contract of marriage between him and Margaret McCloid, elder daughter of Torquil McCloid of Lewis, his affianced spouse, to the said Margaret in liferent and to the lawful heirs male of their bodies, whom failing to return to the said Roderick heirs male and assignees heritably of the lands of Ballimullycht and the lands of Little Ussie in the baronies of Follertie & Meikle Ussie, earldom of Ross and shire of Inverness. To be held of the granter and his heirs and assignees in feu and heritage in name of blench farm for payment yearly of a penny Scots if asked. 6 May 1605: Contract between Rorie Mackenzie of Caltaloid and Kenneth Mackenzie of Kintail his brother german on the one part and Margaret MacLoid eldest lawful daughter of Torquil Macloid of Leceis on the other part for the Marriage of the said Rorie and Margaret in contemplation of which Marriage the said Rorie with consent of the said Kenneth as Superior becomes bound to infeft the said Margaret in liferent and the lawful heirs of their bodies whom failing to return to return to his own heirs in the three quarters of the davach lands of Ochterneid and in the half davach lands of Inchvanie in the Barony of Delny and Shire of Inverness also in the half davach lands of Balmalloche and quarter Lands of Little Ussie in the Barony of Foddertie and Shire foresaid etc. etc. Dated at Dingwall. c. 1606: Instrument of sasine proceeding upon a charter by Kenneth McKenzie of Kintaill dated 19 December 1605 in favour of Roderick McKenzie of Cultilloud and Margaret McCleod his spouse of the lands and barony of Cogeache, with the salt and fresh water fishings thereof etc under reservation of the liferent of Torquil McCleod of Lewis and Margaret Nein Angus McAllister his spouse. Date wanting, indorsed 1st January and registered in the Particular Register of Sasines for Inverness and Cromartie 3 February 1606. (This writ has been much injured by fire). 2-3 June 1606: Charter by Roderick McKenzie (of Cogeach) with consent of Kenneth McKenzie of Kintail his superior in favour of Margaret McCloid his spouse elder daughter of Torquil McCloid of the Lews in iferent (in implement of their contract of marriage) and the heirs male of their bodies whom failing to return to the granter and his lawful heirs male and his assignees whomsoever, of the said lands of Inchveandie and Ochterneid. To be held of the granter and his heirs in feu and heritage, for payment yearly of the feu duties and others specified in charter, GD305/1/4/1. This charter contains a precept of sasine, and is dated at Dingwall and Chanonry of Ross.
