About (Hans) Valentin Kieffer
Valentin Kieffer & family immigrated to Pennsylvania 5 Oct 1737 on the ship "Townshend" (register no. 5206). There were 231 Palatines on that ship,which sailed from Amsterdam arriving in Philadelphia. He moved very early to Lancaster County PA and then to Bethel Township, Lebanon County.
Valentin, the immigrant, signed his name "Kieffer" so that is the spelling chosen. In German, Kieffer means "cooper".
