He was a Trader and Merchant in Boston, MA, a soldier; enlisted age 46, pre-United Empire Loyalist pioneer, and founder of the Canadian Branch of the family in Nova Scotia.
He married Catherine Church in 1756 in MA, presumably of the family of Colonol Benjamin Church, referred in many early Colonial historical records as the "Indian Fighter". Took wife and children to Granville, Annapolis Co in 1673. There are 10 offspring, second child was Jacob, b.1758, m. 1774 to Anna b.11/30/1758. She was the 9th child and the daughter of Abner Morse. One grandson was the Honorable Jacob Valentine Troop, M.P.P., N.B. b. 1808 to 1809 in Upper Granville who married Catherine Fellows in 1838.
