Vernie S. Wierson Funeral Services Held At Story C.

Funeral services fro Miss Vernie S. Wierson were held Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 7, at 2:00 o'clock, in St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City, with pastor George C. Strum officiating.

A prayer service was held in the church chapel preceding the service. Mrs. Alfred Jacobson was organist. Following the singing of the hymn, "O Master, Let Me Walk With Thee," by the congregation, Mrs. Robert Hermanson sang, "Behold A Host." At the close of the service, a favorite song of the deceased, "My Task", was sung by Mr. and Mrs. Robert O. Lekwa.

Interment was in the Story City Municipal cemetery. Pall bearers were Jack Wierson, Phillip Wierson, Stanley Wierson, Paul Wierson, David Osheim and Jon Osheim.

Life Sketch

Vernie Wierson, the daughter of Sam and Emily Ericson Wierson, was born on a farm south of Story City, Jan. 15, 1898. She was baptized by Pastor Jacob Tanner and confirmed by Pastor H. Holverson in St. Petri Lutheran Church, of which she remained a life long member. She had been an active member of its Sunday School and of the A.L.C.W.

A graduated of the class of 1915 of the Story City High School she attended Drake University in Des Moines and also taught in the elementary schools in our community several years. Upon the death of her sister, Julia, Mrs. S. J. Wierson, she gave up the teaching profession to assist her parent in their home in caring for the two young children of her sister. They are Thelma, now Mrs. Lawrence Osheim of Story City and Clifford Wierson, now living in Ames.

Suffering a heart attack, Vernie died very suddenly at her home on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 4, at the age of 64 years and 20 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mrs. S. J. (Julia) Wierson and a brother Willard.

Survivors include two brothers: Theroy and John Wierson, both of Story City; also one niece, Mrs. Lawrence (Thelma) Osheim, and five nephews: Clifford Wierson, Jack Wierson, Phillip Wierson, Stanley Wierson and Paul Wierson.
