VERNE W. BLANKENBURG New Lothrop, Michigan Passed away Tuesday evening, April 22, 2014 at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint. Age 76 years. Verne was born on June 2, 1937 in Goodison, Michigan to the late Lloyd Lester and Marion (Rugenstein) Blankenburg. He married Marilyn Warren on October 3, 1959, she survives him. He served in ministry for 22 years in the thumb area and Mid-Michigan. He was also a member of New Lothrop's First United Methodist Church. Of all things Verne enjoyed in life, his loving family was always most important to him. In addition to his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by two children, Carrie (Barry) Brown of Chesaning, Tad (Donna) Blankenburg of Troy, three grandchildren, Barry Brown Jr., Krystal Brown, Jacob Brown, one uncle, Harold (Dorothy) Rugenstein and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Tara Lee at Birth. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, New Lothrop. (7495 Orchard St. New Lothrop, MI 48460) Pastor Lee Sayer will officiate. Cremation will take place after service. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Whelpley-Martin Funeral Home in New Lothrop on Thursday, April 24, 2014. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for Verne's three grandchildren's College Education fund or the Methodist Church general fund.
