VERNON E. OSBORN OBITUARY -- At 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, December 3, funeral rites for Vernon Osborn were held in the Farris Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Paul W. Pentz of the First Methodist church at Selma. Mrs. O.D. Meisenheimer, accompanying herself at the organ, sang "Peace in the Valley" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Casket bearers were: William Stiffler, Willis Henderson, William Ray, Raymond Sutton, Walter Morrison and Dilwyn Yokum. Burial was in the Garnett cemetery. Vernon Elliott Osborn, son of Edward and Lona Osborn, was born May 28 1903, near Selma, Kansas, and departed this life on November 29, 1958, at the age of 55 years, six months and one day. He spent his early life on a farm near Selma.

On July 29, 1922, he was united in marriage to Violet Croan and moved to his farm west of Centerville, where he spent the remainder of his life. To this union, four children were born, Glenn of Topeka, Elsie and Gail of the home, and Ted of Junction City. He leaves to mourn his passing. his wife, four children, his daughters-in-law, Ann Etta and Marjorie; five grandchildren, two brothers, Smith and Orval; one sister, Mae Anderegg; his mother-in-law, Julia Croan; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Preceding him in death were his mother, father and one brother. He was a good husband and father, and was always ready to help his friends and neighbors in time of need. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and many friends.

Dies of Heart Attack -- Vernon Osborn suffered a heart attack Saturday morning while doing chores, and passed away before they could get him to the hospital. He lived in this community near Bush City all his life. The community extends heartfelt sympathy to Mrs. Osborn and children.
