Violette Elizabeth Osborne

Violette Elizabeth Osborn, 87 of Topeka, died Friday, December 28, 1990, after an extended illness. She was born June 27, 1903, at Meriden, the daughter of John Allen and Julia Ann Metzger Croan. She lived most of her early life in Anderson County. She lived in Linn County 45 years before moving to Shawnee County in 1964. She was married to Vernon Elliott Osborn on July 29, 1922, at Ottawa. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1958. She was also preceded in death by a son Alfred Theodore "Ted" Osborn on October 21, 1985; a granddaughter, Sheila Kay Osborn on April 14, 1983; her parents and four brothers, Milton, Vernon, Robert, & George.

Violette's greatest pleasure was in her home and family. She enjoyed quilting and other sewing and crafts. Her children and grandchildren will always cherish the memory of the family meals she prepared. Survivors include one daughter, Elsie Green of Bella Vista, Arkansas; two sons, Gail & Glenn Osborn, both of Topeka; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, December 31, at the Farris-Feverborn Memorial Chapel with burial in the Garnett Cemetery.
