From the LaCrosse Tribune & Leader Press, LaCrosse, WI / Tues, Feb 15, 1938, page 6: "Husband, Wife in Murder-Suicide Case Phillips, Wis -(AP)- District Attorney L.A. Koenig declared Monday the deaths of Victor Aho, 47, and his wife Sunday were murder and suicide. Bodies of the two, shot to death, were found on the Aho farm near Brantwood. Koenig said notes were found, written by Aho, which indicated he had been planning the act for several weeks. Mrs. Aho, 34, had been shot through the back as she slept. Aho's body was found behind the bed, a shotgun blast in his head. Aho had been released from the Price county jail last week, pending a hearing on charges of threatening bodily injury."
