About Vida Maye Givler
DALLAS CENTER -- Vida Maye Givler, 92, passed from this life on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 15 at Church of the Brethren in Dallas Center, of which she was a member. Interment will follow at Brethren Cemetery, east of Dallas Center. Vida was born on October 4, 1913 in Dallas Center to Jesse and Sarah R. (Burkholder) Zuck. She married LeRoy E. Givler on September 17, 1932. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Pat, Norman, Duane, Sharon and Richard. Vida lived most of her life in Dallas Center and Grimes. She was formerly employed with the former Kresge's Department Store in Des Moines, until her retirement in 1970. Vida was also a homemaker all of her life. She enjoyed watching birds, reading, and gardening, especially flowers. Vida will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Pat (Howard) Robbins of Des Moines, Norman (Helen) Givler also of Des Moines, Duane (Helen) Givler of Nixa, MO, Sharon (Gene) Bohenkamper of Windsor Heights and Richard (Barbara) Givler of Catarac, WI; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Vica was preceded into eternal life by her parents; her husband, LeRoy on Easter Sunday in 1980; three sisters; one brother; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. on Friday, October 14 at Brandt's Funeral Funeral Home in Dallas Center, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Church of the Brethren in Dallas Center.
