Viola was the oldest of four children ( she had three younger bothers) born to Michael J. & Cecelia (Heinen) Braun.
On 19 February 1935, Viola married Arnold Joseph Roering, at Saint Boniface Church in Melrose, MN; she was age 22, he was 26. Born 21 January 1909 in New Munich, MN, he was the youngest of six children born to Hermann & Amalia (Ross) Roering.
From her obituary (Melrose Beacon): "Viola attended grade school & high school in Melrose. After graduation, she worked for Dr. Meyer and Dr. Zachman as a receptionist. She & husband, Arnold, farmed in the New Munich area for 65 years.
"In 1999, Viola moved to the Park View Apartments in Melrose and had resided at the Pine Villa Care Center for the past five months. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, reading, playing cards, and many crafts. Viola was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Munich and St. Ann's Christian Mothers."
