About Viznitz Rebbe of Monsey - Toras Mordche

Rabbi Mordechai Hager of Vizhnitz - Monsey

Rabbi Mordechai Hager was the young son of Rabbi Chaim Meir Hager, zt"l (1887-1972), beloved Vishnitzer Rebbe, author of Imrei Chaim who settled in then Palestine in 1947. Rabbi Chaim Meir established the Vishnitzer Community in Bnei Brak and instituted his chassidishe court there in 1949. In the early 1950s, Rabbi Chaim Meir came to the United States to dedicate the then new Vishnitzer Beis Medrash in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY. The Rebbe's younger son, Rabbi Mordechai Hager, the present Monsey Vishnitzer Rebbe, had been appointed as the Rav of Beis Medrash Ahavas Yisroel. With the growth of Vizhnitz in the United States, the kehillah was named Toras Chaim, and Rabbi Mordechai was appointed as its Rav.

In 1964, Rabbi Mordechai, today's Vizhnitzer Rebbe, launched the Vizhnitzer community in Monsey, where he established his residence. Rabbi Mordechai would often return to Williamsburg for periods at a time, to ensure the kehillah's continued growth and development. Today, Rabbi Yitzchok Yochanon Hager, son of Rabbi Mordechai, serves as Rav of the Williamsburg Vizhnitzer Kehillah.

Another son of Rabbi Mordechai Hager of Monsey-Vizhnitzis is Rabbi Dovid Hager, Rov of the Imrey Chaim Community in London, UK

Rabbi Mordechai Hager is brother to Rebbe Moshe Yehoshua Hager of Vizhnitz - present Vizhnitzer Rebbe in Bnei Brak - (son of the Imrei Chaim).
