Walter bn about 1856, on the 1861 census he is 4. Living in Neilston Renfrewshire. In 1871 he is 14 and a Bricklayers apprentise. As Jane his youngest sister was bn in Newcastle abt 1869, I can only presume they moved to Newcastle for Industry. On the E.Tonks Ironstone Quarries of the Midlands, Part 3, Northampton area - Walter, assumed 29 left to go to Caythorpe 1886. Walter married Annie Jackson 7th Jan 1891...witnesses were James Parkinson, Walters brother in low and May Alice Jackson, Annies sister. He was aged 33 and Manager of Brickyard. His father Walter at this time was Ironstone Mines Manager. In 1891 aged 33 living Hough on the Hill, Lincs. 1892/1897 either both Walter (father) and or son Walter became proprieter of Caythorpe Town Quarries. And Caythorpe station quarry. March 1901 again either both or one of them became proprieter of Fulbeck south quarries and The Ings quarries. 1901 aged 42 Cottages, Caythorpe, Foreman of Ironstone mines. His father died in 1907. 1911 Proprieter of Ironstone mines. This time his sons Leonard Walter and Edmund were Clerks employed at the ironstone mine. 1918 according to E Tonks ironstone quarry of the midlands part 8 south lincs. aged about 58 he was recorded as owner of Caythorpe ironstone mines and owner of Munition, a steam locomotive. in 1921 aged about 61 W Burke and Co took ownership of Frieston quarries and Caythorpe station quarries in the December. Walter has been recorded as opening up Frieston quarry in 1912. He passed away 10th Oct 1937 aged 77.
