This William Goode was probably the possessor of Whitley or Whetley manors or farms, adjoining Whitstone in the North of Cornwall, now the property of the Duke of Bedford (1887). There is a "Whitley" in Worcestershire, near Redmarley d'Abitot, the seat of the Goodes.

Page 19 - 20 of VA COUSINS Walter Good or Goode of Whitley, son of William Good, born 1500 - 1510, married as early as 1540, Joan Whitston, daughter and heir of William Whitston.

By this match he came into the possession of the manor or Barton of Whitston, in the north of Cornwall, which remained the homestead of the family in that county until the name became extinct about 1660.

The emigration of the younger branches to America or to other parts of England, and marriages of the heiress of the last male representative of the name were factors.
