His Testament Dative

Walter Hamilton of Netherfield, here treated, was in debt when he died in December 1665. He owed one hundred merks to Thomas Craig in Netherfielddyke, conform to his bond dated 14 February 1660, and another one hundred merks to Eleazar Allan there, conform to his bond dated 7 March 1662. In addition, he and Andrew Frame in Netherfield owed one hundred merks to Alexander Hamilton, son to the deceased James Hamilton in East Quarter, together with a further eighty-one pounds, conform to their bond dated 22 October 1662.

Walter Hamilton of Netherfield's creditors appointed James Young, Chamberlain of Avondale, to act for them, and the Commissary Court recognized him as lawful creditor to the deceased. Confirmation was granted to him on 16 February 1666.
