About Walter Hermann von Dechend
Mr. Walter Von Dechman Dies
Mr Walter von Dechman, for 14 years a lecturer in German literature at the Melbourne University, has died at his home in Mathoura Road, Toorak,
Mr von Dechend, who was born in Berlin, was the son of the late Mr Hermann Alexander von Dechend, a former president of the Imperial Bank of Germany which was organised soon after the foundation of the German Empire. He came to Australia about 30 years ago, and lived practically all the time in Melbourne.
A year after ware began he retired from the University, and had since been teaching. Hed has left a widow and daughter.
