About Walter Miles "Willis" Parker
https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=90096124
Fought with Company H, 1st Florida Cavalry, Confederate States of America, during the Civil War. He enlisted at Houston, Florida at age 24, on November 23, 1861. His service records indicate that he owned a horse worth $150 and horse equipment valued at $10. With his regiment Parker left Florida for Tennessee in the spring of 1862. Tragically, he soon fell ill and on May 30, 1862 he died at the Academy Hospital in Chattanooga. The young soldier's mother, M.A. Parker, filed a claim for his back pay in September 1863.
Parker's burial place is unknown. However, he is probably buried in the Silverdale Confederate Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This cemetery has 155 unmarked graves of Confederate soldiers who died of diseases in Chattanooga hospitals in 1862.
