The Valley Falls Vindicator, 23 Aug 1990, Thu, Page 8 Walter H. Wehking, 82, Lancaster, died Aug. 15, 1990, at Cray Manor, Atchison. Services were Aug. 18 at St. John's Lutheran church, Lancaster. Burial was in the Lancaster cemetery . . . Mr. Wehking was born Sept. 6, 1907, at Everest, the son of Chris and Anna Rathert Wehking. He attended Old Huron Grade School. He was a farmer and lifetime member of St. Joh's Lutheran Church, Lancaster, where have has served on the church council. He was a member of the Atchison County Farm Bureau, Atchison County Coop, former member of the Lancaster Odd Fellows Lodge, and had served on the Lancaster City Council. Mr. Wehking was married to Mabel Poos Dec. 25, 1933. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include three daughters, Betty Jean DeWerff, Vancouver, Wash., Leila Tucker, Lancaster, and Norma Jean Hodges, Emporia; a brother, Gilbert Wehking, Lancaster; two sisters, Helen Gigstad, Nortonville, and Hulda Kanning, Lancaster; and seven grandchildren.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Oct 8 2018, 23:37:54 UTC
