Notes for Walter Wheelock: Though not proven, this is probably the same Walter that was born in Nova Scotia, 13 Apr 1813, as given by "History of the County of Annapolis", by W. A. Calnek, and A. W. Savary. Walter's death date is recorded in Lawrence (516:526), 1 Dec 1901, age 88 years, 8 months. This would place his birth date around Apr 1813. His birth place is given as Nova Scotia, and his father is listed as Samuel. His wife, whom he preceded in death, was Jane Gates, daughter of William Gates and Margaret Pierce, both of Nova Scotia. Since Calnek and Savary identify Walter's wife as Mary Gates, daughter of Silas Gates, Jane is presumed to be a subsequent wife
