Eyton (Antiquities of Shropshire) consistently cites his name as Walter; but Diana Greenway, editor of Fasti Ecclesiae Anglicanae, gives his name as Robert throughout. He was the brother - not son - of Richard de Belmeis (I), Bishop of London; but he had a son Richard who also (but later) became Bishop of London, leading to no end of confusion.
Three sons: Robert (left male line descendants, possibly to present), the aforesaid Richard, and Philip (m. Matilda de Rumilly; Philip's sons died wthout offspring and his daughter Adelicia married into the Zouche family).
