Wanda Eckhardt

Wanda Cullimore Eckhardt, 97, passed from this earthly life in the early morning hours of Friday, February 13, 2015.

Wanda was the youngest of twelve children born to Albert Lorenzo and Luella Keetch Cullimore on March 6, 1917 in Lindon.

Wanda met her husband, Sam Eckhardt, while riding on a bus toward Los Angeles in 1941. Following a war-time courtship through mostly the mail, they were married on August 17, 1944 in Provo. Sam passed away on May 9, 2006 after sixty-one years of marriage.

To them were born three children, all surviving: Dennis (Kathy) Eckhardt of Maple Valley, Washington; Viki (Bud) Strong of Salt Lake City; and Lori (Ray) Nash of Aurora, Colorado. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, almost thirty-five great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Thelma Cullimore, of Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Mom will be remembered most for her sense of humor, delicious homemade pies and strong faith in her Church.

She was currently a member of the Butler Hill Ward, Salt Lake Butler Stake.

Her greatest wish in life was to live to be ninety, which she far surpassed.

Special thanks to Canyons Hospice, especially Michelle, Annette, and Amber. They cared for her and loved her as their own and we will forever be grateful for their help at this time.

A chapel service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East). A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Published in the Salt Lake Tribune on February 15, 2015.
