Wascelinus, Lord of Musgrave

Wascelinus de Musgrave was born c.1065. He was either born in Normandy or in Westmorland, Scotland. His place of birth will depend upon which theory you accept for his father Gamel. Was Gamel in Westmorland before the Battle of Hastings or did he arrive with William the Conqueror?

Wascelinus was known as Lord of Musgrave, in the County of Westmorland, in the time of William the Conqueror and King Henry I, 1066-1135. He also controlled other manors in Cumberland.

His wife is not known, but the name of one son has survived, Stephen, who succeeded him as Lord of Musgrave.
