Watkin Tench [Marine "Charlotte" 1788]

Watkin TENCH was born 6/10/1758 Chester, England (son of Fisher TENCH and Margaritta TARLETON)

Watkin was a Lieutenant in Royal Marines and he arrived in Sydney Cove on 26/1/1788 on "Charlotte"

In December 1791 he returned to England on "Gorgon"

Watkin married Anna Maria SARGENT in England and they had the following children

• adopted 4 children (of Anna's sisters) in 1821

Watkin died 7/5/1833 Devonport, England

Published 2 books

• A Narrative of the Expedition to Botany Bay, with an Account of New South Wales, its Productions, Inhabitants Etc. (1789)
• Complete Account of the Settlement at Port Jackson, in New South Wales, including an Accurate Description of the Situation of the Colony, and of its Natural Productions, taken on the Spot (1793).
