MEMORIAL PHOTOS 2 FLOWERS 1 Wayne Johnson Flannigan, 83, of McLeansboro, passed away at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.

He was born in Macedonia on June 19, 1924, a son of Samuel Tahlmadge and Dora Mae (Johnson) Flannigan. He married JoAnn McDaniel on Sept. 22, 1953, at Elbe, Ill., and she preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 2007. He was a driller for Brehm Oil and National Association Oil. He retired in 1986.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Revs. Mike Cash and Robert Sefried officiating. Burial will follow at Glenview Memorial Gardens in McLeansboro. Graveside military services will be provided by the American Legion Post 106.

Wayne is survived by two daughters, Sheree Flannigan of Monticello and Stacey Wright and husband Mike of Roscoe; three grandchildren, Samuel Flannigan of Monticello, and Adam and Melissa Wright of Roscoe; and one brother, Wallace Flannigan and wife Laura Belle of McLeansboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son, Scott Wayne Flannigan; and three sisters, Ersel Cluck, Vonda Lee Cobb and Geraldine Pritchett.

Wayne was a Protestant by faith. He was a member of American Legion Post 106 in McLeansboro, a member of Polk Lodge 137 AF & AM in McLeansboro, and a member of Elks Lodge 1882 in McLeansboro. He was an avid quail and pheasant hunter and raised and trained English Setter bird dogs.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from April 23, 1943 to Feb. 1, 1946 on the USS Stockton destroyer
