"Wayne Weidler Commits Suicide
Body found in Cocalico Yesterday Afternoon
The body of Wayne Weidler was found in the Cocalico creek on Wednesday afternoon, from all appearances having committed suicide. He left his home North State and Chestnut sts., Ephrata, at 3 o'clock Tuesday morning. When he did not return an investigating party was started and a searching party hunted for hours before he was found.
Weidler was fifty-two years old and was said to be melancholy. He moves to Ephrata from Rothsville six years ago and had been a cigarmaker by occupation, although not having worked at the trade for some time. His father and a brother committed suicide. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter Esther, wife of Moses Groff, with whom he lived, and two brothers and a sister, Jacob B. and Levi B. Weidler, of Rothsville."* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Apr 10 2023, 16:50:53 UTC
