Warner enlisted Oswego, NY KRR of NY, private 1st Battalion, 15 Aug 1777: served in Captain Patrick Dayle Company, 1777-1783. Prior to the war he had lived in Canajoharie NY, a farmer, one son and one daughter when he came to Canada. resided at RT (Royal Township) # 4( Williamsburg ) Ontario.
On Thursday, 14 June, 1781, 3 PM, during Tryon and Montgomery Counties Court of General Session, the Grand Jury presented Bills of Indictment against Warner Casselman and brothers Cephrenus and William Jr. among others, for adhering to the enemies of the state of New York.
Warner Casselman listed KRR NY Muster Roll. P.L. 2nd 1786, wife and 2 children, residing in Williamsburg, Ontario.
Warner Casselman and Frederick Fouch were granted Lot #9 Concession, Twp.#2 (now Cornwall) 1 Nov 1786.
Warner Casselman and his brother trudged in deep snow, freezing temperatures, carrying their food to Montreal, Ontario, where on 27 Feb 1786 Warner swore that his property had been confiscated during the Rev War. He originally entered his claim, 1783.
He swore he was born in Stone Arabia and lived there when the war began; came to Canada in 1777. He was a soldier in the 1st Battalion KRR NY 1783. Enlisted Oswego, Sir John Johnson's Reg't. and served remainder of the war. Resided 4th township, New Johnston. He purchased 100 acres near Conojohary NY two years before the war. He had paid 10 pounds currency; was to have paid total 60 pounds, purchase price. He built a house and stable and had cleared 8 or 9 acres. He left some articles of furniture, all of which were seized for debt on the land. The person from whom he bought it took it for debt due him. William Casselman, brother of the claimant, witness, swore he remembers the farm Warner purchased near Canajoharie. In the margin a notation "A good man".
