About Ritter Widige von der Osten gen.Sacken, I Ritter
From http://osten-sacken.h1.ru/text3_10.htm
In 1855 "A Book of Russia's Noble Families" by Duke Piotr Dolgorukij was published in Saint Petersburg. This is what it tells us: the family of von der Osten genannt Sakken is one of the oldest and most significant noble families in the Baltic lands. It originated from Austria and later on moved via Pomerania to the Baltic. Balduin von Sakken, a baron of the Teutonic Order, participated in the 1205-year crusade. Both Otto and Wedeghe von Sakken were knights of the Livonian Order (mentioned in 1457), whereas Dionisius von Sakken was an envoy of the Order of the Knights of the Sword to the Holy See in Rome (1500).
