About Bethiah Freeman

Biography

Bethia Harding was born May 12, 1716, the daughter of Josiah and Hannah (Welch?) Harding of Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts.[1]

She married Nathan Cob after intentions were published on 17 January 1734/5 in Barnstable, Barnstable, Province of Massachusetts Bay.[2] He was the son of James and Elizabeth (Hallett) Cobb of Barnstable.[3] Nathan died before 1741 when Bethiah remarried.

They had one known child born Barnstable (recorded in Eastham):

Mary, born June 24, 1737[4][5], who married Joseph Melcher and moved to Brunswick[6]
After intentions were published at Eastham on 05 December 1741[7][8], Bethia married John Freeman, son of Samuel and Bathshua (Lothrop) Freeman.[9][6]

They lived in Gorham, Maine, and had children born previously in Eastham, Mass., including:[10][11][12]

Nathan, born Dec. 5, 1744; who married Hepzibah Whitney in October 15, 1766, and 2d Lydia Doane in 1775
Mercy, born July 16, 1746, who married John Carlsey April 1764
Betty, born June 1, 1747, who died Dec. 7, 1748
