Wilhelm Carl Knippel

NOTES FROM HIS DAUGHTER:

My childhood I spent with my parents, who owned a house in Tower Alley in Faaborg.

The house bordering on my uncle, master painter E. N. Knippel ‘s garden and stood opposite the bell tower. I'm home christened on 18 November, 1874 and produced in Faaborg church on 28 February, 1875 and confirmed in the same church on 30 September, 1888 by Pastor Chievitz. I was first sent to school with widow Lorentzen in East Street, which had a school for young children. At age nine, I came in civic education and the September 6, 1884 in Faaborg and surrounding secondary school from which I was launched jointly on 14 September, 1888 from 6 class.

When my parents got married my father was mate, but was probably visit shortly after flying from bark ship “Chieftain” associated H.C. Christensen's company in Marstal.

In March 1880 he took over as officer and principal owner of one of Mr. Wong in Faaborg newly built schooner “Mary”, which he sank August 31, 1891 in near Jarmouth.

This schooner has mother, my brothers and I made several summer holidays until I was about ten years, and visited St. Peter Borg (2 times), Helsingborg, Wells and Warkworth in England and Dysart in Scotland. In March 1892 bought by Odense shipping company a schooner "Tjalfe" which was renamed to Mary, which he company until he knows a clash in the Skagerrak in the summer of 1895 (?) Came to Frederick's port where the ship was repaired, but his heart disease and asthma forced him to leave the lake, and he sold the ship to Germany. My childhood in Faaborg was very happy. Mother, my brothers and I were nonetheless mostly alone since the father is usually only at home in winter. Mother had much to do to keep house and keep our clothes in order and sew them.
