In the 1816 Chortitza Colony Census he is listed at Schoenwiese #12. Also listed in his home in these censuses is his sister Helena. He transferred to Halbstadt, Molotschna Colony, in 1825 where he is listed at Halbstadt #17 in the 1835 Molotschna Census. In the 1835 Census his father's first name is given as Klaas. He was a business partner with Johann Cornies. In 1841 he owned 33,691 dessiatines outside the Molotschna Colony. He is reputed to have owned or rented almost 100,000 dessiatines of land before his death in 1845 (None but Saints, by James Urry, p. 143). He committed suicide. The diary of Jacob Niebuhr (b. 4 May 1862) says he was born 3 Dec 1781 and died 11 Jun 1845. He is believed to be in the 1795 census in the listing for Aron Martens #7686 (BH Unruh p244).
