Preismedaille), 1830 Cand. theol. - In Kurland Hauslehrer in Paulsgnade u. Degahlen, 1835-37 Pastor-Adjkt., dann Pastor an d. Ahnenkirche in Mitau. Anfangs wegen s. Schärfe unbeliebt. Setzte sich aber in s. Gemeinde ganz durch u. genoß ungewöhnliches Vertrauen. Errichtete 6 Schulen u. in Kalnzeem 1 Bethaus. Veranlaßte 1848 d. Trennung d. Land- u. Stadtgemeinde (1847 gold. Prediger-Brustkreuz). 1835-49 auch Red. d. Latweeşchu Awises u. 1839-49 kurl. Dir. d. Lett.-liter. Ges. Unter d. lett. Schriftstellern dt. Volkstums d. beste Prosaist, der durch s. bilderreiche, kraftvolle Sprache bewegen u. überzeugen konnte.
