About Wilhelm Streypers, Original 13 families of Germantown, PA

original settler in Germantown Phila. https://familysearch.org/photos/stories/3863334 "William Streypers, the father of the Streeper family in America, was one of the original colonizers of Germantown, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. On October 6, 1683, he arrived in Philadelphia on the sailing vessel “Concord” as a member of the Crefield Company, a group of thirteen families, who, having purchased land from William Penn, became the founders of Germantown.
For many years the Streypers family members had been residents of Kaldenkirchen in the county of Juliers, Rhineland, Prussia, a city near Krefeld, situated close to the border of Holland.
Research to date has not revealed the names of the parents of William, or Wilhelm as he was called in Prussia. One researcher believes the father to have been Henrich Stripers of Kaldenkirchen, a merchant whose business ledger of April 5, 1686 has been found. “A Dederich Striper (auf dem Strep), an Elder in the branch of the Reformed Church in Kaldenkirchen, had a position of leadership and respect. In 1619 and 1622 he and other Elders had been told to go out and remind the barkeepers in the town to be more attentive to their work and not be wasteful and neglectful,” wrote the Rev. Wilhelm Niepoth of Krefeld, Germany, an eminent researcher who has made an extended and scholarly study of the Germantown colonizers. He indicates that Henrich could have been the grandfather of Wilhelm. Godparents of Wilhelm’s children at the time of their christenings were Peter Streypers and his wife Trincken (Katharina), Leonardt Streypers and his wife Hilleken (Helene), and Jan Streypers. Jan was a brother of Wilhelm and it is possible that the others, also, were brothers. American historians have thought that Wilhelm had sisters who were married to Thones Kunders, Jan Lucken, and Lenart Arets, and Paulus Custer, who also were colonists of Germantown. German genealogists, however, indicate that the wives of these men were not Streepers, but sisters of Reinert Teisson (Tyson)."
