According to an Abstract of Land Records, William rented 10 acres of land from a Philip Creichbaum on October 5th,1799.. The land was known as ' Philip's Fancy" lying in Allegany County, MD and was leased for 7 years. Rent was to be on peppercorn at the end of three years and a yearly tent of six dollars for four years. ( Land rental information is from a book published by the Cresap Chapter of the D.A.R. in 1969. The title is ABSTRACTS OF LAND RECORDS FROM DEED BOOKS, B,C, AND D, Vol. 5. Mrs. George Statler was the author for the information in the Deed Book C regarding William.
