About William A. Allgood, Sr.
During the War of 1812, William Allgood served in Booth's Regiment under Captain Gaines Thompson at the Battle of Mobile. In 1815, he was discharged at Fort Hawkins and was later granted 80 acres in Paulding County, GA, where he established the Allgood Methodist Church, the oldest in the county.

State of Georgia Paulding County
In the name of God amen I William Allgood Sen of Said County being of advanced age and knowing that I must shortly depart from this world deem it right and proper both as respects myself and my family that I should make a disposition of the little property with which a kind providence has blessed I therefore make this my last will and Testament. Item 1st, I desire and direct that my body be buried in a descent and Christian like manner suitable to my circumstances and conditions. My soul I trust shall return to rest with God who gave it as I hope for eternal salvation through the blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whose religion I have professed and as I humbly trust have enjoyed for forty years. Item 2nd, I desire that all of my just debts be paid. Item 3rd, After the expenses is paid I will and bequeath to my six children all of my estate both real and personal to be sold and equally divided each according to what they have had for the last twelve months my land situate in the 19th nineteenth District of now Paulding County known as lots nos 977 and 985 nine hundred and seventy seven and nine hundred and eighty five One half acres reserved which is in the Grave Yard. Personal Property consisting of all my Household Kitchen furniture and accounts all to be equally divided between John Y. Allgood, William Allgood Jr, Peter P. Allgood, Sarah H. Houge, Rebecca Matthews, and Mary W. Syth. Item 4th, I constitute and appoint my three sons John Y. Allgood, William Allgood, and Peter P. Allgood Executors to this my last will and Testament.
