About William Baker

From Sally Thomas:

William 2,

  • Youngest son of Francis (b. 1611) in Eng. and Isobel Twining resided at Yarmouth.
    • He served in King Philip’s War.
  • He married first Mary Pierce,
    • sister to his brother John’s wife and to his sister Hannah’s husband (three spouses from the same Pierce family in the same Baker generation).
    • She was still alive on 3 June 1673, when her father’s estate was distributed.
  • William married second Mercy,
    • b. 4 Dec.1671, dau of George and Elizabeth Crispe Lawrence of Watertown.
    • His widow Mercy died 26 Jan 1753.
  • William’s will was written 16 July and proved 14 Aug 1727.

Mercy and William had the following children:

    • married 17 Feb 1713 Samuel Smith
  • 2.William

      • That this William was son of William 2 is known from the fact that the latter in his will mentioned his daughter-in-law Dinah Young. William Jr. lived at Chatham and
    • married Dinah Harding,
      • born c 1700, dau of Capt. Joseph and Dinah Hedges Harding of Chatham.
    • William died very soon after and Capt Harding was on 20 Jan 1719 appointed to administer upon the estate of “your son-in-law, William Baker of Chatham”. William Baker probably died without issue.
      • Dinah married (int. 10 Mar 1721/2) John Young of Eastham, b 20 Mar 1694/5, son of David and Ann Doane.
      • Dinah died 3 Jan 1779.

        • born about 1710 , dau of Jabez and Elizabeth.
