William Ballard, born 8 Sep 1715, in York County, Virginia a Quaker; on May 16, 1748 he was received in membership by the Camp Creek Monthly Meeting, Louisa County, Virginia later by the Cedar Creek Monthly Meeting, Hanover County, Virginia. On Feb 24, 1794 he was in Bedford County, Virginia where he died between June 12, 1792 and April 29 1794. He married (1) 1734 in Hanover County Virginia to Mary Byron, who was born about 1710 probably in Essex County, Virginia, and died in 1765, She was the daughter of Henry Byrom (who was christened on February 28, 1675 in Parr, Lancashire, England and removed in 1696 to Essex County, Virginia where he died in 1717, he married ca 1701 to Francis Mills, who was the daughter of Robert Mills, she married (2) 1719 to Alexander Somervell, who died in 1724 (NB as McNaught, 1934, p. 130, and Davs American Colonists, 1936, p. 37, name her as Mary Moorman, further substantiation of her identification is warrented.

He made his will 12 June 1792 and it was probated 29 april 1794 in Bedford County, Virginia..."being now in the seventy seventh year of my age...Son Byrom two hundred acres of Land lying in Orange County which he has paid me for and I have made him a deed for, but fearing the Deed is not good, do now bequeath the same to him and his heirs forever...Daughter Francis Wilson three Pounds six shillings in low of a saddle and also one feather bed and furniture...Daughter Mary mcKinney Forty Shillings to make her saddle equal to her sisters...Daughter Delphia Caldwell twenty pounds...to make her equal to what I have given the rest of my children. My will is that wheras I have purchased a tract of land of my son Byrom and given it to my son Barclay and am Indebted twenty pounds to my son Byrom for the same that it be paid out of my son Barclays part of my Estate after my decease...remaining part of my Estate be Equally Divided amongst all my Children...Son Byrom sole Exector.
