Brief overview:
William (58) (known as Willy) was shot dead during a car hijacking on 17th May 2003, in the driveway of a friend. The gunmen attempted to stead William's wallet.
"A prominent businessman and the son of the founder of Barloworld, William Barlow, was fatally shot on Satuday evening in Johannesburg.
Barlow (58), was shot three times - in the head, the left side of the chest, and in the leg - by four gunmen when he arrived in the driveway of a friend at 19:07 on Saturday, Johannesburg SAPS area commissioner, Oswald Reddy, said. Medical rescue staff found Barlow dead at the scene.
His killers escaped in a blue Toyota Conquest. They had not taken anything from Barlow's car. Barlow was to have dined with a friend, Reddy said.
Barlow recently resigned as a Barloworld director but was still a big shareholder, said Reddy.
There had been no arrests. Norwood police had opened a murder docket."
