About William Barrett, High Sheriff of Sligo

Born and died in Culleenamore, Co Sligo. Married Eleanor Orme, daughter of James Orme of Fairfield, Co. Mayo and Catherine Hillas. She was her father's heiress; she had no brothers, according to Burke's Irish Gentry, but may have had sisters. She apparently brought some land to the marriage. They leased land from the Nicholson family of Primrose Grange in the later 18th century. They later purchased land in the area from the Gethin family. The estate was centred on Culleenamore House.
