About William Clement Bartlett
GEDCOM Note

Link to info about Owen Evans; https://jenwilletts.com/searchaction.php

William Clement Bartlett was the son of Clement Benjamin Bartlett III (who preferred using his 2nd name Ben or Benjamin throughout his life hence confusion in some trees over his forename as being Benjamin or Clement).
William was separated from his natural born parents as a child when he was reputed to fall off the then Stockton bridge during a scuffle with his notoriously bad tempered mother and swept away by flood waters presumed drowned.
To keep a long story short. William was said to be saved by some aborigines who took care of him and who raised him in the Taree District. Some years later he was recognised by a Govt. Official and brought back to East Maitland (where he was actually born [birth registered at Hoxam {sic} or 'Hexham' District]). He was not returned to his parents.
A Mr. Owen Evans of West Maitland raised him until he ran away as a youth to seek his future. OE was later remembered by William who named one of his sons Owen Evans Bartlett in his honour. William went on to become a well respected pillar of his community in the Inverell District.
