Few men have been more universally beloved and honored in the community in which they lived then Dr. Bemus. He received his medical education, at the Berkshire Medical Institute ; prefacing it by a course of study at Oberlin College. He first settled at Ashville, N. Y. but soon removed to Jamestown, and was in the active practice of his profession for 43 years. His natural adaptation to his calling and his wide reading made him remarkably successful, and his practice at all times was large. His kind heart, cheerful disposition and great skill made him an ideal physician.
