Born on 28 April 1875, and baptised William Julius Hollander, on 28 Feb 1877 (U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Church Records, 1826-1945) at the same time as his sister Lucie Alice Hollander (later known as Alice Louise Bevan). Parents of both children named as Charles W Hollander and Astrid Louise Hollander (Astrid later married Eustace Bevan (making him a bigamist?) and both children came to be known by his surname; she then married Ivan Peterson - and Eustace appeared to have returned to his first wife Margaret).
1900 US census: William J Bevan; Aged 22; Single; Grand Son (in the household of grandparents, Per and Edith Anderson); San Francisco, San Francisco, California, USA
1910 US census: Wm J Bevan; 31; Married; Head of Household; Father born in Sweden (so therefore not Reginald Bevan); San Francisco Assembly District 39, San Francisco, California, USA
Other info from Findagrave:
W.J. Bevan, Burlingame California resident and vice-president of the Wells Fargo Bank of San Francisco was president of the elite Union League Club of 300 members. He directed the details of construction of a golf course and clubhouse in 1930 which brought to the San Francisco Peninsula a real asset to the community per the local press who called it 'one of the finest in California'. Groundbreaking of The Union League Golf and Country Club took place on January 6, 1929, ten months prior to the crash of the Stock Market. Wm was a very wealthy man. He & wife Clara did not have children. They were married prior to 1910 Census as I found them listed on 1910 Census. Wm became a Catholic when he married Clara Daily of a well to do San Francisco Irish family. He provided well for his wife in his estate when he died in 1951. She died 2 yrs later in 1953. The balance of his estate was then in a trust allowing $100 per month to 2 of his favourite aunts (Madeline Peterson & Edith (last name?) for the rest of their lives & when the last of those aunts Madeline died in 2005, the remainder of his large estate went to the Notre Dame catholic nuns.
