About William Black
Beacon May 18, 1900
Father William Black, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of Malvern died May 6. 1900 in Brownsville, Ohio where he was visiting a daughter. He was taken sick while attending church in the Brownsville church. Being removed to the home of his daughter Mrs. Marian McMullen, he seemed to improve, but on Tuesday evening, a change for the worse took place and he failed rapidly until 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon when he died. The remains were brought to Malvern for interment. Funeral services were held May 13, 1900 at 3 o'clock in the church of which "Father" Black, as he was affectionately called in the community, had so long been a devout member.
