About Martha J Black

Martha was born near Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of Irish parents who emigrated to America in 1810 and to Ohio in 1816. She married William Black, a native of Scotland who came to the United States in 1838 and later that year he went to Ohio.

Martha and William had nine children. The family came to Malvern in 1871, where for fifteen years William was engaged in the hardware business.

Martha died in 1885 at the age of 63 years 11 months 15 days.
