In the name of God, Amen, I William Bladen, of the County of Washington in the District of Columbia, now residing in Said County and District being in perfect health of body and of Sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death, and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to Settle m worldly affairs, and thereby be better prepared to leave this world when it Shall please God to call me hence, do therefore make and publish this, my last Will and testament in manner and form following, that is to Say: First and principally, I commit my Soul to the hands of Almighty God, and my body to the earth, to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix, hereinafter named, and after my debts and personal charges are paid, allowing Three Hundred Dollars for funeral expenses and erecting a monument over my grave, I give, devise, and bequeath as follows. I Give and bequeath any and all money in hand, Bank or loaned out, and all my personal property of every kind and description in the City and County of Washington, in the District of Columbia, to my wife Elizabeth Bladen, of the County of Washington, in the District of Columbia, and to her heirs and assigns. I Give and devise all my real and mixed property situated in the City and County of Washington, in the District of Columbia, to my wife Elizabeth Bladen, during her Single life or so long as She remains my widow. I Give and devise to my Son George Bladen, Fifty (50) Acres of the land with any and all improvements, being a portion of the farm lately, purchased by me, from Luther Jones, and Known and designate as the property formerly belonging to the Estate of Chew, deceased, and Situated on the Mill Road leading to Riggs Mill in Prince George County in the State of Maryland, and to his heirs and assigns in fee simple. I Give and devise to my sons John Bladen and William Bladen to be equally divided between them, the balance of Said land containing Seventy three (73) acres, more or less, being the balance of the farm lately purchased by me from the Said Luther Jones and Known and designated as the property formerly belonging to the Estate of the Said Chew, and situated in Prince George County in the State of Maryland, and to their heirs and assigns in fee simple. In case of the marriage or death of my wife Elizabeth Bladen, I give and devise as follows. I Give and devise the tract of Land containing fifteen acres with all Improvements Known as the Homestead Farm situated on the Blair Road in the County of Washington, in the District of Columbia, to my son Andrew Bladen and to his heirs and assigns in fee simple. I Give and devise my tract of Land containing Nineteen and some perches in the County of Washington, in the District of Columbia, adjoining the Maryland Line and near Mill Road, adjoining the Lands of John Hagan (Hogan?) on the District Line and Dr. Cockerille on Maryland Line to my Son Luther Bladen, and to his heirs and assigns, in fee simple I Give and devise my tract of Land situated near the Blair Road in the County of Washington, in the District of Columbia, now occupied and worked by my Son William Bladen, containing fifteen acres more or less to my Son William Bladen and to his heirs and assigns in fee simple. I Give and devise to my Daughter Mary Thomas, formerly Mary Bladen, the tract of Land on the Blair Road, in the County of Washington, in the District of Columbia, now occupied by my Son-In-law Arthur Thomas, with all improvements in and upon said Land containing about One and one half acres, more or less, and to her heirs and assigns in fee simple. I Give and devise my house and Lot situated and Known as Premises numbered 2017 On Fourteenth Street North West in the City of Washington, in the District of Columbia, to my Son Joseph Bladen and to his heirs and assigns in fee simple. I Give and devise my house and Lot situated and Known as Premises numbered 2015 On Fourteenth Street North West in the City of Washington, in the District of Columbia, to my Daughter Elizabeth Davis formerly Elizabeth Bladen, and to her heirs and assigns, in fee simple. I Give and devise my house and Lot situated and Known as Premises numbered 2013 On Fourteenth Street North West, in the City of Washington, in the District of Columbia, to my Son John Bladen and to his heirs and assigns in fee simple. And Lastly. I do hereby constitute and appoint my wife Elizabeth Bladen, of the County of Washington, in the District of Columbia, Executrix of this my last Will and testament, without Bonds, and I hereby ratify and confirm this and none other, to be my last Will and testament. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand signing with my mark, being unable to write and affixed my Seal this Twentieth day of April A.D. 1886 at Washington D.C. in the presence of the subscribing Witnesses. District of Columbia, to-wit: On this day appeared Chritopher S. O’Hare and Charles S. Shreve two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing last will and testament of William Bladen late of the District of Columbia, deceased, and severally made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God, that they did see the Testator therein named sign this will by making his mark, that he published, pronounced, and declared the same to be his last will and testament, that at the time of so doing he was, to the best of their apprehension of sound and disposing mind, and capable of executing a valid deed or contract, and hat their names as witnesses to the aforesaid will, were signed in the presence and at the request of the Testator, and in the presence of Joseph R. Cassin, the other subscribing witness thereto. Test: /Dorsey Claggett/ Register of Wills.
