William M Bohr

Prof. William M. Bohr, one of the best known and esteemed citizens of Jonestown Borough, and a public school teacher for many years, passed away at his residence, Main Street, Jonestown, this morning at 8:45 o'clock. He was aged 66 years. His health had been impaired for the past year, until several weeks ago, when he became bedfast. The deceased was a native resident of Jonestown, where he had lived most of his life. In his earlier years, he attended Lebanon Valley College and also the Swatara Institute, which was located in Jonestown & was headed by Prof. Koons. He was also employed for several years at the steel works at Lickdale, and then returned to school teaching again for the most of his lifetime. He taught in the Jonestown, Lickdale and also other Lebanon County schools. At the end of his teaching career, he also was a Justice of the Peace in Jonestown for about 5 years. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Jonestown, and also was a member of the Int. Order of Odd Fellows Lodge in Jonestown, from the time of it's organization. He was an active chorister in the Zion Lutheran Choir in Jonestown, and also had a great taste for the very best in literature. He is survived by his wife, Sarah; and also a daughter, Miss Mary Bohr, at home; & a cousin, Miss Cecilia Bohr, Lebanon, a teacher in the public schools of Lebanon. The funeral to be held Monday, from his late residence, Jonestown, & burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Jonestown. The members of the Jonestown Lodge of the Odd Fellows Lodge, will attend the funeral and will also conduct the burial rites of that order, at the grave.
