About William Bonar
Notes by Tammy Swingle, curator Bonar descendant
The first Knox County (Ohio) Fair was held at the home of a William Bonar. Given the date of birth of this William, and knowing the family lived around Fredericktown in Knox County, I believe this to be the correct William Bonar.
I've also read accounts that a William Bonnar in Knox County was a worker on the underground railroad. Again, because of the time he lived, I believe this is the same William Bonar (often spelled Bonnar, Bonner, Boner).
William Bonar was elected to the Ohio State legislature in 1859 and served one term. After that he moved from Fredericktown to Mount Vernon in 1874.
