About William Bramley

Came to Dunedin,NZ ca 1863 then moved to Wellington ca 1870 source Cheryl Styles. Arthur Carman's book Tawa Flat and the old Porirua road says he was born at Westlerk,Nottingham in 1819 and that he died 3 August 1918. The book Wellington Northern Suburbs 1840-1918 says he eloped to Gretna Green with Ann Maria who he met in service at Lord Fitzmaurice's estate in Yorkshire.He was the curator of Wellington's Botanical Gardens then he bought 100 acres in what is Churton Park today to establish his "Pine House" dairy farm in 1870.
