About William Thomas Bryner
William Bryner of Limestone Run Nearly reached 84th Milestone.
DUNBAR, Dec. 12 - The death of William Bryner of Limestone Run in the Dunbar mountains, within two weeks of his 84th birthday, removes from Dunbar one of the few surviving pioneers of the township. Born in the township when "Old Hickory" was president, he spent all his life within its borders and for the past 50 years bad lived quietly and contentedly in the mountains, tilling his little farm which provided his needs, and he had only to make infrequent trips to the town to secure his supply of sugar, coffee and tobacco. In the winter he worked in the timber and added to his capital. he riches he got from the pure air and the rugged outdoor labor was robust health which he enjoyed until the frequent weather changes of the present autumn gave him the severe cold that resulted fatally.
At his humble home the fox hunters were frequent and always welcome guests, and none enjoyed the sport more than he, nor knew better where the game might be found. Living near to nature's heart, he outlived the generation born with him, and today his remains are laid to rest in the Bryner cemetery in the mountains where repose the remains of his ancestors for generations back. "His quiet, inoffensive life is over, his earthly labors ended, and he is entered into his rest, to be missed by his children and friends, but not greater is their loss than that of the township - for the grave today has covered the remains of one who was never disloyal to his country, neglectful of his friends, nor untrue to his conception of real manhood," reads a tribute of a friend.
Mr. Bryner was a veteran of the Civil War. He is survived by six sons, Albert Bryner, Mount Braddock; John Bryner, Cheat Haven; Shriver Bryner, Donora; Thomas Bryner, Tucker Run; James Bryner, Dunbar; Charles Bryner, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Hughes, Dunbar, and Mrs. Mary Coughenour, Donora; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Tressler, Stewart township, and one brother, Isaac Bryner, Tucker Run.
