About William Shuler Buckwalter
William Shuler Buckwalter died about a year after his mother Sarah Shuler Buckwalter (Kimball) emigrated to Nauvoo, Illinois. The following is abstracted from Nauvoo Records on the autobiography of William Shuler Buckwalter's brother Henry Shuler Buckwalter: 'I was taken sick with bilious fever in the Fall of 1843. My older brother William, the oldest son of the family, being in the employ of a gentlemen...was taken sick with the same disease and was wheeled home by his employee on a wheelbarrow some five miles away. I lay sick for about 3 months. My brother (William) died soon after at the age of 12 years, 8 months, and 5 days. On the 5th of September, 1843, his bones lay consigned to mother earth in the old grave yard at Nauvoo.'
